If you're a first time traveler, you may want to choose a destination close to home. U.S. residents might consider staying in-country and volunteering in the Grand Canyon or New Orleans, or venturing out a little farther to Costa Rica or the Dominican Republic. If you're an experienced traveler, or just ready to cross the globe, take a look into Asia, the South Pacific, or Africa.
Once you've chosen your destination, consider how long it will take you to get there and how much time you want to spend exploring the country. While one-week programs are feasible for closer destinations, you might want to consider two and three-week programs or connecting multiple programs for long-distance travel.
